Artist: Flume

Release: Turning
Label: Future Classic
Genre: Dance

Flume has spent the majority of 2015 touring internationally, but returned home for twin headline sets at FCX: 10 Years of Future Classic, where he debuted the track to local fans with live vocals from Marcus of Collarbones. In May, his first original work since 2013, ‘Some Minds’ featuring Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt, was released to critical claim from the likes of Pitchfork, triple j, Radio 1 and the Guardian. It is accompanied by an incredible video, the result of a collaboration between Flume, the Sydney Opera House and respected director Clemens Habicht (Tame Impala, Bloc Party, The Presets).

Artist: Holy Esque
Release: Submission
Label: Beyond The Frequency
Genre: Alternative

Glaswegian four piece Holy Esque have been rapidly building a reputation as one of the most exciting bands to emerge from the UK’s independent music scene with high profile support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Times and NME. Armed with their distinct brand of arena style hooks, post-punk rhythms, and lead singer Pat Hynes’ unique trademark vocals, the band are set to reclaim this year with the new EP ‘Submission’, which also marks their first physical release. Veering in between the chaotic dark feel of 80’s English post-punk and modern electro-pop, ’Submission’ sees the band pushing into new territories. Recorded in Copenhagen’s STC Studios and mixed by double-Grammy award producer Jon Schumann (Kashmir, Mew), the collection of songs on the EP display a set of irresistible and infectious melodies that hint at the potential of the bands debut album, scheduled for release in January 2016.

Artist:  Skylar Spence
Release: Can’t You See
Label: CarPark
Genre: Alternative

When Ryan DeRobertis announced the name change of his project from Saint Pepsi to Skylar Spence, there was no indication of any stylistic departure, though the change arrived with a musical shift toward faster tempos and more pristine production. Whereas Saint Pepsi had often used decades-old boogie, disco, and new wave as grist for the sampling mill, Skylar Spence is intent on trafficking more overtly in those genre aesthetics through his own production techniques and vocal contributions. With Prom King, DeRobertis reorients his music for his new full-band live act and winds up with an album full of tight and enveloping dance tunes.
