Artist: Beth Jeans Houghton & The Hooves Of Destiny
Release: Dodecahedron
Label: Mute
Genre: Pop

Following a phenomenal response for the debut album Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose, released in February this year, Beth Jeans Houghton & The Hooves Of Destiny release a new single: the brilliant ‘Dodecahedron’. Showcasing Beth’s extraordinary voice and off-kilter lyrics, ‘Dodecahedron’ explodes in cascades of colours and little drummer boy beats.

“The night before I wrote it I had a dream that consisted of me running up to strangers in the street and asking them what a dodecahedron was, but no one knew” says Beth. “I later found out that the ancient Greeks believed the Dodecahedron is a symbol of the universe and represents an idealized form of divine thought. Having said that, despite that first line, the song is nothing to do with Dodecahedrons, it’s just a prelude to a thought.”

Artist: DPPLGNGRS
Release: Black Market Heart Surgery
Label: Hottwerk Records
Genre: Dance – Techno

Rising stars DPPLGNGRS have achieved an impressive three Moneyshots (Singles of the month) in DJ Magazine, and now present their debut long-player Black Market Heart Surgery. Black Market Heart Surgery is the result of the meeting of Tobias Doppelganger and Craig Fury’s fevered minds, their various influences having been catalysed by misspent youths on various dancefloors, and now distilled into nine tracks of electronic splendour.

Chicago, Detroit, New York, Berlin, Manchester and London all loom large in Tobias and Craig’s listening histories, leaving their marks on DPPLGNGRS distinctive sound which DJ Mag described in their June 2012 issue as a mash-up of ‘purple electro, squelchy bleep techno, discoid house, and bass-heavy beats bizness.’

Artist: Nadeah
Release: Venus Gets Even
Label: Bag Lady Music
Genre: Pop
On stage, Nadeah seems to live out her motto: ‘Whatever happens, make something good of it’. She has long used music and performance as a form of alternative medicine. After discovering Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin in her mother’s record collection and falling in love with rock music, she was then taken to a live show of Michelle Shocked. It was there that she decided, “That’s what I want to do when I grow up”.

One day Marc Collin went to see her on stage. Won over by her voice and personality, he invited her to collaborate on the Hollywood Mon Amour project, then to join Nouvelle Vague and take part in the French collective’s 3rd album. During the Nouvelle Vague tour, she put the finishing touches to songs intended for ‘Venus Gets Even’.
