xoArtist: XO

Release: Through The Night
Label: He Loves You Not Recordings
Genre: Dance

The Staffordshire based producer/songwriter XO, has really begun to make a name for himself throughout 2014. After being tipped as a future one to watch by Huw Stephens, Annie Mac and Mistajam on Radio 1; he also went on to play the highly coveted BBC Introducing stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow alongside Royal Blood, JUCE, Indiana, Rosie Lowe and Saint Raymond. Not to mention gaining a high strung following online from Pitchfork, Noisey, Mixmag, NME, ID, Redbull and Ministry Of Sound.

The self starter gained all the backing before even releasing anything properly, and without so much as a plugger or PR on board. Proving good music will always find it’s way to the right people.

The title track, “Through The Night” features previous collaborator RobLaw on vocal duties and very much serves as a Part II to previous single “Holdin On”. The 19 year old taps into old school trip hop production and eloquently tangling it with a modern UK flavour. Mix that with RobLaw’s ever sultry vocal style and XO’s British tone.. It makes for an international swooning affair. Premiering with Mistajam as his Inbox Fresh on BBC Radio 1Xtra, and premiering with Wonderland Magazine online.

For the second cut XO recruited fellow UK newcomer Leo Kalyan on vocals, and got a little help from MNEK. “Pulling Me Under” is a much more tender and melodic track compared to the lead single, which certainly brings it down a peg or two.. But that by no means it’s any less of belter. Going back to his UK sounding roots for this track will certainly be a welcome surprise to early supporters of XO.

team meArtist: Team Me
Release: F Is for Faker
Label: Propeller Recordings
Genre: Alternative

Norwegian 6-piece Team Me release the lead track ‘F Is For Faker’ from hotly anticipated new album ‘Blind As Night’ – the band’s first record since the release of their debut ‘To The Treetops’ in 2011. Charting in the Norwegian top ten albums chart the band has picked up a Norwegian Grammy for ‘Best Pop Album’ and two Independent Music Awards. The first introduction to the bands new sound and album dynamics came last month with another standout track ‘The All Time High’. With unconventional recording locations and a children’s school choir, the album began to take shape with their trademark upbeat guitar pop sound taking even more of a dark and deep lyrical undercurrent than their first offering.
