World Circuit Sampler

World Circuit Records are one of Amazon UK’s Labels Of The Month. Featured as part of their monthly Label Spotlight, Amazon UK are also giving away a free 16-track Sampler, featuring music from Buena Vista Social Club, Ry Cooder, Ali Farka Touré and more.

“World Circuit Records began life in London in the mid-80s with a focus on Cuban and West African artist-led releases, amongst other world music styles, and by 1993 had already claimed its first Grammy Award-winning LP with Ali Farka Touré and Ry Cooder’s Talking Timbuktu. In 1997, the label released another Ry Cooder project, the phenomenal Buena Vista Social Club, to a global applause which saw the Cuban band sell millions of records. Another Grammy Award came in 2005 for Ali Farka Toure and Toumani Diabate and further nominations in 2006 and 2011 continue to demonstrate that the meticulous quality of the output of World Circuit Records remains as high today as when the label began.”
