fyfe controlArtist: Fyfe

Release: Control
Label: Believe Recordings
Genre: Alternative

‘Control’ is a collection of brooding, expertly-crafted alternative pop songs, from an artist and producer who has already earned fans as diverse as London Grammar to Childish Gambino (and over 2 million Soundcloud plays to boot). For 25-year-old Paul Dixon, it’s a record which may have started as an exercise in tightening one’s grip on life, but is effectively about release, and learning that control itself is a fallacy.

“Spoek Mathambo and Dj Spoko’s band is totally amazing!” Dazed Digital

“The electro-Zulu supergroup represents the best of South African music.” – THUMP/Vice

Fantasma, the latest project of South African innovator and creative pioneer Spoek Mathambo, is a five-man collective which weaves together electronica, hip-hop, traditional Zulu maskandi music, shangaan electro, South African house, psych-rock and punk to form a unique, original and fresh hybrid.

The godfather of ‘Bacardi House’, producer DJ Spoko joins with former Machineri guitarist André Geld- enhuys, drummer Michael Buchanan and maskandi multi-instrumentist Bhekisenzo Cele to complete the line up.

Fused by Spoek Mathambo’s futurist vision, Fantasma pulls inspiration from all corners of South Africa: the sounds and spirits of townships and cities as well as the rural countryside. It is diverse not only in its membership but also in its forward-looking music.

Release: DJ Yoda Presents: Breakfast of Champions
Label: Get Involved Records
Genre: Hip Hop

DJ Yoda will release his new album ‘Breakfast Of Champions’ on April 27 2015 through Kartel/Believe Digital. Curated and produced by DJ Yoda, the album features an eleven-strong collective of UK MCs and musicians, including Rex Domino and Mouse Outfit members Sparkz & Truthos Mufasa. The release will be trailed by a new single ‘The Baddest’ (now streaming here), ahead of an audio-visual headline tour in March, kicking off at Manchester’s Band On The Wall on March 13 and London’s The Forum on March 14.

Duncan Beiny, aka DJ Yoda, is no ordinary scratch DJ – and fittingly, this year’s realisation of his Breakfast of Champions project is far from being a predictable move. Energised by the wealth of starry collaborators (including Action Bronson, Boy George & Roots Manuva) for his acclaimed second artist album, 2012’s ‘Chop Suey’, Yoda elected for his next project to look in the opposite direction – towards upcoming artists of the UK scene, assembling the Breakfast of Champions cast from a Who’s Who of hip-hop’s next wave.

“less of a comeback than it is an explosion, shattering all expectations in spectacular form.” Neon Gold

Monarchy is Andrew Armstrong and Ra Black.

Both originally from Australia, the synth-pop duo met in London, and began making music together in 2009.

Monarchy released their debut album in 2011 with the singles Love Get Out of My Way, Maybe I’m Crazy, and You Don’t Want to Dance With Me and remixes from the likes of Benny Benassi, Tim Goldsworthy, Azari and III and Bag Raiders. They remixed such acts as Ellie Goulding, Lady Gaga, Kelis, Kylie, OMD, Jamiroquai, Fyfe Dangerfield and more.

Over the last five years they have played across the globe, at festivals such as Coachella, Melt, Lovebox, The Big Chill, Low Cost, Arenal Sound, and their own headline shows and club gigs in the US, Spain, Germany, UK, France, Russia.

After seeing Monarchy’s performance at Coachella in 2011, burlesque star Dita Von Teese got in touch with the band and the song Disintegration featuring Dita was eventually born from the relationship. This marked the first time Dita had ever recorded vocals on a track. This song went on to become their first single from their forthcoming album.

In June 2014 they released their second single, Living Without You through Sony US/Ultra, which was described by Neon Gold as: “less of a comeback than it is an explosion, shattering all expectations in spectacular form.”

With an exceptional video and MK remix, the single was championed by Pete Tong and charted on Beatport.

Monarchy released their latest EP titled Almost Human backed by a fan-generated official music video.
