Following a string of celebrated releases for the likes of Island and Metalheadz, drum ‘n’ bass legend Peshay turns his midas touch to live funk, jazz and tropical compositions in a vibrant new direction on his first album for Tru Thoughts. Entitled ‘Generation’ and due out on 9th December, the album follows the upfront EP of the same name which has gained early airplay from Gilles Peterson and Craig Charles on BBC 6Music, and excited reactions from seasoned tastemakers worldwide including Sinden, Danny Krivit and Ashley Beedle.
Genre: Alternative – Electronic / EBM
Strangers release their new EP ‘Close’ through their own label Empire Records. It features the best of the 6 free downloads the band have been giving away for free from July To December 2013 as well as some exclusive remixes and acoustic tracks. The last two years have seen Strangers release a string of EPs & singles, earn plaudits across the blogosphere, get played on Radio 1, and smash their way onto the XFM playlist. They have also gained attention from the likes of Mixmag, Music Week and Artrocker. They have supported the likes of Niki & The Dove and Grimes.
Release: Breathe EP
Label: Tape Club Records
Genre: Dance – Beats & Breaks / Electronica
‘Breathe’ EP is the formal debut by Jonathan Tonks, aka PSSNGR. It is an engaging example of sample-based instrumental hip hop which sees Tonks draw on both likely and unlikely influences, including Madlib, J Dilla, Flying Lotus and Shigeto through to bands such as Godspeed, Sigur Ros and Tool. A native of rural Gloucestershire and an avid user of the Native Instruments Maschine, Tonks communicates a lonesome, post-9-to-5 late-night work ethic behind his patchwork of samples and sound effects.
Artist: Bryce Hackford
Label: PRAH Recordings
Genre: Dance – Techno
The second release on new experimental label PRAH Recordings. Warehouse wrecking rollers, luminous synthesizers and chiming spirituals hot-housed in Hackford’s electronica/dance laboratory. Leading off with the urgent and compelling ‘Another Fantasy’, ‘Fair’ is the first release for Bryce Hackford on the new PRAH Recordings label. Against the warehouse wrecking ‘Another Fantasy’ and luminous synthesizers of ‘I Want More’, are the chiming spirituals of ‘Heart To Beat’ and ‘Slow Motion’.
