Liverpool Sound City is in full swing already; one need only check out #soundcity11 on Twitter to see what a great time everyone’s been having.

According to hashtag city (#soundcity11) Dutch Uncles smashed it at Zanzibar last night and Wolfgang is the best new band in a long time… but we don’t want to bore you with past performances, hence our list of bands to watch below:

Marina Gasolina

Best known as the MC/Singer of Brazilian Funk Carioca band, Bonde do Role, Brazilian singer Marina Gasolina is part funk, part rock and just plain awesome. We’ve also featured Marina Gasolina on our first compilation album of the year, Let Believe Curate : Ones to Watch 2o11.

Consisting of French bands Team Ghost and Anoraak, and student battle of the band winner Towering Heights, OuiLove Music brings continental flair to Liverpool. The bands have remixed each other as part of their UK tour, with a vinyl featured by the Guardian on this year’s Record Store Day.

Free download available from 7digital.

Rachel Sermanni

19 year-old protégé of nu-folk Brit award winners Mumford and Sons, Rachel Sermanni has been having quite a year that includes great reviews at SXSW in March. With main influences like Tom Waits, Nick Drake, Dar Williams and Eva Cassidy,

Rachel’s sound is full of character, due in equal parts to her robust guitar playing and cracking voice.

Three Trapped Tigers

Three Trapped Tigers have managed to produce a sound that is that of caged beasts: it combines sheer raw energy with power.

Their distinctive sound combines intelligent dance music with the live band format.

This London-based 4 piece band, Fiction have played the stage at Offset Festival, the Huw Stephens-curated S?n Festival and supported the Klaxons.

They make perfect, anarchic pop.

The Draymin

Inspired by a love of guitar and dance music, this Scottish 5 piece combines equal parts melodic dance, indie pop and stadium band to create a guitar-led, crowd-pleasing sound that pulses with relentless energy…

Curious about the sounds we’ve recommended? We’ve made a playlist on Spotify

Although the gigs and talent are enormous, don’t forget that LSC is also a conference. We’ll be partaking in a panel discussion this afternoon, You Spin Me Right Round: The Create Success Panel in association with Generator, at 13:20 at the Hilton along with producer Micky Ross, AIM, the MMF and the Featured Artists Coalition.

Come along if you’ve got the chance… and enjoy the party!

Have a great weekend.
